A new landscaping material, called Meadowmat, has been launched by Q Lawns enabling anyone to create a wild flower meadow of any size.
Meadowmat is a mix of 34 species of native wild flowers and grasses and it is perfect for gardeners who want a low maintenance area that also attracts wildlife.
Once it is established, Meadowmat will flower between Spring and Autumn and will support all manner of creatures from bees and butterflies to birds, insects and amphibians.
Wild flowers are notoriously difficult to establish from seed, but Meadowmat will be growing strongly when it is delivered to you and it will quickly root into the soil and establish itself in almost any soil types.
For best results, the soil should have low nutrient levels. The lower the nitrogen, the less maintenance there'll be, and so in time you can expect the only maintenance to be one or two cuts a year.
